Small enough for a kitchen drawer or grab bag, this radio keeps you listening to local and national news when the power is out. Wind the crank or leave it in daylight to top it up, or charge it by USB when the mains is on. The built-in LED light helps you find your way in the dark, and the 5V output can give a phone a small emergency top-up.

Questions about this product

Will it work in a long power cut?

Yes – it does not need mains power. Charge it in advance by USB, then top it up by winding the crank or leaving the solar panel in daylight. The Be Ready campaign advises writing down the FM frequencies of your local and national stations and keeping them with your kit.
